Personal Background

Alison grew up in a small town in southwest Kansas, where a simple desire to earn a T-shirt from a friend sparked a transformative journey in her life. Although she engaged in various sports during her youth, it was swimming that ignited her true passion. Training independently until high school, Alison's dedication led her parents to make significant sacrifices by relocating to the nearest city, allowing her to pursue her Olympic aspirations.

This move provided her with the opportunity to train full-time, propelling her into a competitive  swimming landscape that included participation in numerous USA Senior National Finals across the country, and by her junior year of high school, Alison had qualified for the USA Olympic Trials. At the 2004 Olympic Trials, Alison placed 22nd overall.

Alison went on to further her swimming career at the University of Texas, where she was a member of the conference team for all four years and contributed to their 2008 NCAA Division I Championship. She continued to compete at a national level until 2011.
